FAR 61.58 Proficiency Checks:

Federal Aviation Regulation 61.58 requires proficiency requirements for Experimental-Exhibition jet pilots. In order to carry any persons, pilots of multi-seat turbo-jet powered aircraft must have completed an annual proficiency check with a Designated Examiner within the prior 12 months.

If an annual proficiency check has not been completed within the past 12 months, pilots may continue to fly their aircraft, but such flights must be solo or carry qualified persons for training, flight checks or certification.

The regulation offers several methods to comply with the requirement for an annual proficiency check:

            -  A new type rating or Authorized Experimental Aircraft Endorsement in a turbo-jet powered aircraft,

            -  Certain FAR Part 121 and FAR Part 135 proficiency checks can qualify as a proficiency check under this rule,

            -  Any other 61.58 proficiency check in another turbo-jet aircraft. (Citation, Lear, etc.)

            -  A proficiency check in any Experimental-Exhibition jet qualifies the pilot in all other Experimental-Exhibition jet aircraft.
